Privacy Policy

This is the English-language summary of how Monu Tools handles data. If you are in Germany, the legally binding version under the GDPR is the German Datenschutzerklärung.

1. Who is responsible

2. The tools run in your browser

The core promise of this site is that the tools process your input on your own device. When you format JSON, edit or compress an image, redact or unlock a PDF, generate text, or use a calculator, that work happens in your browser. The content you enter is not uploaded, not stored, not logged, and not shared. There are no user accounts and no personal profiles. A few tools save your preferences in your browser's local storage for convenience; that data stays on your device.

3. Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (a provider based in the USA). When you load a page, technically necessary data (such as your IP address, the time of access, and the page requested) is processed in server log files for the purpose of operating the site securely and reliably. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).

4. Cookies and consent

This site currently sets no non-essential cookies and loads no advertising or consent-requiring analytics service, which is why you do not see a cookie banner. Some tools save your settings in your browser's local storage for convenience; that data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. If we introduce a service that requires consent in the future, a consent banner and this policy will be updated first.

5. Analytics

We use Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine for aggregate, first-party page-view measurement. Each server-rendered page request contributes only the page kind, tool or article name, locale, and coarse country. It uses no cookies, client tracking script, user ID, or tool input.

We also use PostHog for limited product analytics. It receives only atool_opened event with the tool slug, locale, and category. Autocapture, browser persistence, session recording, feature flags, and user identification are disabled. Tool inputs, file names, and file contents are never sent. The project uses PostHog's EU service endpoint.

We use Sentry for client-side error monitoring so broken tools and rendering failures can be diagnosed. Sentry receives diagnostic information such as the error type, stack trace, browser metadata, and the page path without query parameters. User data, cookies, request bodies, file names, file contents, and tool inputs are excluded. The project uses Sentry's EU data endpoint.

6. Google AdSense

Google AdSense is not currently in use on this site: no AdSense script loads and no advertising cookies are set. If we introduce ads in the future, a consent banner will be shown first and the following will apply.

After your consent, this site may use Google AdSense, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. In doing so, data such as your IP address and information about your device and browser may be transmitted to Google and processed in the USA. The legal basis for setting advertising cookies and serving personalized ads is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. The AdSense script itself loads for all visitors, but through Google Consent Mode v2 it sets no advertising cookies and sends no ad identifiers for visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland until you agree in the banner. See Google's Privacy Policy for details, and you can turn off personalized advertising in your Google Ad Settings.

7. The IP address tool

In the IP address lookup tool, your own public IP address is read from the request on the server so it can be shown to you. It is not stored and not shared. If you actively start a lookup, the IP address you query is sent to the freeipapi.com service (over HTTPS) to retrieve location and network information, and a map preview may be loaded from OpenStreetMap, which requires your IP address to be sent to their servers to load the map tiles. This only happens when you choose to run the lookup.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object (Art. 21). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77).
