How to use the Net Salary Italy

  1. 01

Enter your RAL (retribuzione annua lorda) in euros.

  2. 02

Choose your pay period count: 12, 13, or 14 mensilite.

  3. 03

Adjust the addizionali rate if you know your region and municipality; the default is 1.9 %.

  4. 04

See your net per pay period and annual net, with a full INPS, IRPEF and addizionali breakdown.

How the net salary works

Enter your RAL and the addizionali rate, and the calculator converts your gross annual salary into net pay. It runs the official 2026 contribution and tax steps in sequence to get there.

INPS and the imponibile

It first applies the official 2026 INPS employee contribution rates to your RAL. What remains is the imponibile, the taxable base on which IRPEF is then calculated.

IRPEF and the addizionali

The three-bracket IRPEF scale of 23 %, 33 %, and 43 % is applied with the standard detrazione lavoro dipendente. The addizionali regionale and comunale rate you enter is then added as a local surtax.

What it does not cover

The estimate leaves out the trattamento integrativo, bonus pay, family deductions, and disability credits. Because it works from RAL, the tredicesima is included in the annual total rather than shown as a separate month.

An estimate, not your exact pay

Treat the result as a guide, not financial or tax advice, and the amount you actually receive may differ. All calculations run in your browser, and no data is sent to any server.

Frequently asked questions

What is the INPS employee contribution?

The employee contributes 9.19 % of gross salary up to a ceiling of 122,295 EUR per year. An additional 1 % applies on the portion above 56,224 EUR. INPS covers retirement, disability, and survivors insurance.

What is the imponibile?

The imponibile is the taxable income base: RAL minus the INPS contribution. Both IRPEF and the addizionali are calculated on this figure.

What are the addizionali regionale and comunale?

These are regional and municipal surtaxes added on top of IRPEF. Rates vary by region (typically 1.23 % to 3.33 %) and by municipality. The calculator lets you enter the combined rate; 1.9 % is a reasonable central estimate.

What is the tredicesima and how does it affect monthly pay?

The tredicesima is a mandatory 13th monthly salary, typically paid in December. Many contracts also include a 14th payment in summer. Choosing 13 or 14 mensilite divides your annual net over more periods, reducing the per-period amount while the annual total stays the same.

Is this the exact amount I will receive?

No. This is an estimate. It excludes bonuses, fringe benefits, family deductions, the trattamento integrativo, and other personal credits. The addizionali rate is the one you enter, which may differ from your actual municipality and region. Consult a commercialista for a precise figure.
